Après son licenciement, Vincent, consultant en entreprise, s'invente un nouvel emploi à Genève. Contraint non seulement de trouver cožte que cožte de l'argent, mais aussi d'étayer chaque jour davantage la fiction de son emploi. Vincent tombe alors dans son propre piègeÉ Après Ressources humaines, Laurent Cantet frappe à nouveau. Très fort. A l'estomac. Librement inspiré de l'affaire Romand (Cantet et Robin Campillon sont partis du fait divers, en évacuant tout son contenu à l'exception de la double-vie), le film, sur le fond comme dans la forme, avance inexorablement, comme un étau. Premier Lion de la nouvelle section "Cinema del Presente", au Festival de Venise 2001.

After having lost his job, Vincent, a business consultant, invents himself a new job. Being under pressure to find money and to support the daily fictitious details of his new employment, Vincent finally falls into his own trap... After Ressources humaines, Laurent Cantet hits hard again. In one's stomach. Freely based on the Romand affair - Cantet and Robin Campillon based their work on the news item while removing all elements except the double life- in his form and content the film is like a tightening net . First Lion of the new section "Cinema del Presente" at the Venice Festival 2001.

En deux longs métrages, Laurent Cantet se profile comme la valeur sžre du nouveau cinéma français. Né en 1961, il suit les cours de l'IDHEC de 1983 à 1986. Ses deux premiers courts métrages (Tous à la manif, 1993; et Jeux de plage, 1995) sont primés dans différents festival. Après Les Sanguinaires (1997), qu'il tourne pour ARTE, Ressources humaines (1999) débarque sur la planète cinéma et Laurent Cantet ravage les espoirs des jeunes cinéastes en raflant toutes les récompenses internationales qu'il est possible de recevoir avec une première oeuvre.

With two feature films, Laurent Cantet, emerges as the safe bet of the new French cinema. Born in 1961, he attends the classes at the IDHEC, from 1983 to 1986. His two first short films (Tous à la manif, 1993; et Jeux de plage, 1995) win awards at several festivals. After Les Sanguinaires (1997), shot for ARTE, Ressources humaines (1999) land on planet film. To the detriment of the hope of all other young filmmakers, Laurent Cantet gets all possible international awards that a first work can get.
