Workshop: «Vision of a filmmaker in the news»

By alternating screenings and discussions, the workshop will attempt to define – on the basis of accounts in the newscast “Regard du cinéaste” – how the eye of the filmmaker, can change and enrich the narrative approach of televised news.

He gave us the soundtracks to The Queen, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Girl with a Pearl Earring. The multiple award-winning French composer has been given carte blanche by CTE, and is presenting a selection of 5 films, presenting a masterclass open to the public. With a master of the genre, find out how film music is made!

New Media Day: Interactive storytelling
In collaboration with FOCAL, Pro Helvetia, Arte, Final Draft, Pacte Multimedia, SSR SRG idée suisse
Using case studies of several video games and interactive features, the goal of the day’s discussions is to encourage the exchanging of different kinds of expertise, between professionals familiar with traditional screenwriting, linear audiovisual creativity, and new auteurs involved in the interactive communication market.
- Participatory narrative: the active role of the vi-user (viewer + user) in interactive storytelling
- The video game experience: creators present their recent work and talk about the job of writing in this genre
- To write a text or create a world: dialogue between classic screewriters and developers of narrative video games
- Production and narration strategy: analysis of concrete case studies in new interactive fiction formats
- Social Networks: across different examples and accounts, an analysis of the influence of social networks and methods of consumption, marketing and creating fiction

ART Computer Workshops
In collaboration with ART Computer
The festival is offering free sessions to develop editing skills on Final Cut Pro, in collaboration with ART Computer. All the sessions are hands-on and will be lead by professionals, experts in a range of different fields.
Objective: to quickly provide insight about Final Cut Studio, and chiefly to go into more specific areas such as coloration and sound, in greater depth. Participants will learn how to improve their own video projects by working with colour, light, and framing, and how to optimize sound – even how to create new soundscapes.

“Creating fiction with a mobile phone puts narrative processes in motion that borrow from cinematic formulae, whilst also claiming their own kind of illusion. How can an object which sinks to the bottom of everyone’s pockets and handbags, usually alongside wallets and keys, be able to tell tales?”
