FILM AND TV FEATURES COMPETITION

Barriers between cinema, television, internet and the visual arts are repeatedly broken down by evolving technology – for those who create fiction as well as for those who enjoy it. We’re excited to be celebrating this multi-faceted approach to filmmaking with works such as Nicolaj Arcel’s The Truth About Men, which includes animation and on-screen graphics to reveal how classic plot lines operate in fiction and in life...

Jan Komasa’s The Suicide Room juxtaposes alternate reality sequences, social network videos and opera scenes to depict callous youth culture, while video artist Nicolas Provost signs his first feature on the theme of urban integration in L’Envahisseur (The Invader). Prashang Bhargava’s life-long passion for graffiti and hip-hop bursts through in the colours and rhythms of Patang, while rap group La Rumeur plunge us into the dog-eat-dog music industry with De L’Encre. The international competition is also an occasion, for everyone, to encounter talented directors and actors such as Chi Yuarn Lee and Béatrice Dalle.
