Magnificent Century
The 46-year reign of Suleiman the Magnificent marked the pinnacle of the Ottoman Empire which brought European Renaissance rulers to their knees. Besides the political and diplomatic intrigue within this Islamic empire which stretched from East to West, Magnificent Century tells the story of the all-consuming passion between Sultan Suleiman and a young orthodox slave in his harem, Roxelana. Under the Turkish name Hurrem, she would become his wife and main political advisor for decades.
